News from SWING Courses

Although the visitor season in Ireland has now concluded for 2019, there is still a lot happening at our member courses. Check out the latest goings on at a selection of these below.

Lahinch Golf Club

Lahinch’s famed Old Course is currently in recovery mode following its sucessfull hosting of the 2019 DDF Irish Open in July. The Club has recently opened an indoor state of the art facility with the latest in golf teaching technology available. With the opening of this new facility Lahinch are delighted to offer visiting golfers clinics to help with acclimatizing to the unique challenge of links golf in Ireland. All sessions will be carried under the tutelage of Head Professional Donal McSweeney and his team of qualified professionals. Clinics can be pre-arranged by your SWING booking agent.

Waterville Golf Links

2019 marks the completion of the 3 phase clubhouse renovation at Waterville Golf Links . The project included a major reconfiguration of the front entrance, dining and bar area, locker rooms and new golf shop. An extensive collection of old photographs, golf art and memorabilia enhance the ambiance created by the mixture of visitors with the local membership. These developments are sure to add to your next golfing visit to Waterville.

Tralee Golf Club

Tralee Golf Club are using the off season to carry out some redevelopments on their 5th and 9th holes. The club also recently had a very special visitor enjoy a round on the spectacular links in the shape of renowned golf coach and broadcaster Butch Harmon. During his illustrates career to date, Harmon has worked with major champions such as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Stewart Cink, Greg Norman, Davis Love III, Fred Couples and currently coaches leading tour stars Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker and others as well as being a regular on Sky Sports golf coverage. Mr. Harmon also took in a round at Waterville during his trip to Ireland.

Ballybunion Golf Club

Following on from a successful year, Ballybunion Golf Club  are also making the most of the off season by undertaking course maintenance. Work is being done to create more definition between holes 2 and 3 and hollowcore aeration has started on all playing surfaces of the Old Course in preparation for 2020 season.

Other Course

Course improvements and maintenance is also taking place at a number of our other clubs during the winter months.

Doonbeg Golf Club are carrying out mounding works on holes #10, #11, #17 to visually enhance the golf experience.

Also, throughout the course a total of 23 bunkers are being rebuilt to ensure their integrity.

Dingle Golf Club have got a brand new tee-box on #1 along with new pot bunkers on the course . The work is being carried out by one of Ireland’s foremost golf architecture’s Ken Kearney.

The Golf Course at Adare Manor are continuing preparations for the JP McMannus Pro Am in July 2020. The event will bring some of the world’s top golfers to the South West including Shane Lowry and Tiger Woods.

All of the SWING courses are working to improve their facilitates and services on an on-going basis to guarantee the best visitor experience for your next golf trip to the South West .
